Vice-Rector of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies Gulnar Shushikova took part in the international seminar “Arrest and confiscation of assets as a tool to combat corruption”, held in Tashkent.
The participants were welcomed by Svetlana Artikova, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Aurelia Boucher, Ambassador of France to Uzbekistan.
Experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the USA, Uzbekistan, France and other countries shared their experience in the arrest and confiscation of criminal assets.
The presentations were based on real cases of corruption and terrorist crimes. A general vision of the strategy of the authorized bodies to search for such assets and return them to the state is given, effective analytical and digital tools are demonstrated. Broad opportunities for cooperation on this issue within the framework of intergovernmental bodies (FATF, Egmontgroup, etc.) were noted.
Along with this, substantial information is provided on the functions of the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets of France (AGRASC).
All the knowledge and materials obtained during the seminar will be used in the work of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies, in particular, within the framework of the ongoing interdepartmental scientific research “Theoretical aspects of the Institute of Financial Investigations in Kazakhstan”.
The event was organized with the support of the French National School of Justice (ENM), the Academy of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets of France (AGRASC).
