On April 26-30, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies, together with the OSCE Program Office in Nur-Sultan, organized two seminars on the problems of countering computer crimes, identifying and investigating criminal offenses committed using information and communication technologies.
Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office and internal affairs bodies were trained.
Opening the event, Director of the Institute of Professional Training of the Academy Magomed Akayev noted the relevance of the topic of the seminar in the context of global threats to national and international security, the importance of strengthening the work on countering cybercrime, improving the skills of specialists conducting crime investigations.
During the trainings, a wide range of problems of ensuring information security, improving the effectiveness of the fight against crime in the field of high technologies were discussed.
In particular, as part of the study of the criminal and legal characteristics of computer crimes, such important issues as the causes and conditions of computer crime, the criminological portrait of the criminal in the field of high technologies, the motives and goals of the attacker, the main personality traits of the hacker were discussed. The structure and dynamics of crimes, ways of preventing cybercrime are analyzed.
An important topic was the strengthening of international legal mechanisms for countering computer crimes.
Important aspects of the criminal-legal qualification of offenses committed with the use of information and communication technologies, their international legal classification, detection and investigation of cybercrimes are also considered.
The experts were Belarusian specialists who highlighted the current issues of information security, shared their experience in using advanced tools for investigating cybercrimes, modern systems for detecting and preventing computer attacks.
The students learned advanced practices, effective ways and methods of detecting and suppressing offenses in the field of high technologies. The acquired knowledge will allow them to acquire the most important professional knowledge and skills necessary to effectively counter cybercrime, protect society and the state from potential threats.
