On 6 November 2025, the annual meeting of the Steering Committee of the Regional Programme of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Central Asian countries was held in Ashgabat. The Kazakhstan delegation was headed by Nurgalym Abdirov, Rector of the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In his address, the head of the delegation emphasized the strategic and long-term nature of Kazakhstan’s partnership with UNODC, highlighting the successful implementation of joint initiatives to combat synthetic drugs, counter cybercrime, and rehabilitate convicts who had participated in armed conflicts.
The Rector outlined the key priorities for cooperation in the upcoming period:
- development of research capacity in the field of transnational crime and anti-corruption analytics,
- conducting practical trainings and internships,
- establishment of a Digital Forensics Laboratory at the Academy,
- integration of artificial intelligence technologies into the analysis of digital traces.
Kazakhstan’s participation in the meeting reaffirmed the country’s active stance on strengthening regional security and the rule of law. The Law Enforcement Academy will continue to contribute to the development of professional capacity, the exchange of experience, and the implementation of innovative approaches in training law enforcement personnel.
