A training seminar on electronic evidence from other countries has been completed at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies.
The participants are employees of the Prosecutor’s Office, National Security, the Economic Investigation Service, internal affairs bodies, the military police of the Ministry of Defense and the Academy of Justice at the Supreme Court.
As noted during the training, thanks to the development of the Internet, electronic evidence can be placed in any jurisdiction around the world. Therefore, investigators and prosecutors at an early stage of the investigation should take measures to request them and ensure their safety.
In the course of solving practical cases, students mastered the entire algorithm of necessary actions – from collecting and storing electronic evidence abroad to preparing a request for mutual legal assistance.
International experts from Germany, Italy, Northern Macedonia, the USA and Japan introduced the audience to the ways of obtaining information – direct or urgent requests.
Representatives of online service providers spoke in detail about the procedures for storing electronic evidence, sending emergency and direct requests for disclosure of information and electronic evidence through the mutual legal assistance mechanism.
The training was held as part of the implementation of a Special plan for training law enforcement and special agencies in best practices and working methods for 2021-2023.
The event was organized with the support of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the OSCE Program Office in Astana.
